Guess who's coming to dinner ... just a bit late.
"Police will not prosecute artist Bill Henson over his photographs of naked teenagers, declared "mild and justified" by Australia's Classification Board."
"NSW police today indicated charges would not be laid."
Mr Garrett says the courtroom is not the right place to debate the merits of art.
“The courts were not the appropriate forum for resolving strongly held views in a debate which I think is much wider than just the impact or otherwise of works of art,” he said.
“We shouldn’t see the police knocking on the doors of art galleries to try to resolve matters which are really better resolved by the community having mature debate.”
Yep, good onya Pete, you are a representative and spokesperson for a party which contains members who have has added to the debate in a magnificently mature manner.
NSW Premier Morris said they were “offensive and disgusting”
Mr Rudd has labelled Henson’s photographs of naked teenagers — seized by police from a Sydney gallery last week — “absolutely revolting”
Of course we all noticed how Pete was way up front defending the artist, giving some balance to the Kev and Morrie's knee jerkery well before the whole case was shown to have had no legs. Much in the same way Pete has been shown to have had no backbone.
"How can we dance when our earth is turning?
How do we sleep when our beds are burning?"
*Sighs*
